Trackjoy

Trackjoy originally began as ‘ihatetemporuns’ - a hobby Instagram page that I created to make Twitter memes about track and field.

Starting in December 2019, the page is followed by numerous professional track and field athletes including World and Olympic champions. The page averages upwords of 1M+ organic impressions monthly at it's peak. The page has since grown to 20k+ followers on Instagram.

In July 2020, I decided to rebrand the page to Trackjoy and launch an e-commerce arm to sell merchandise to the audience that I built. Since launching, the store has done about $10k CAD in total sales. I managed all aspects of this business from running the Shopify store back-end to shipping, marketing and everything in between! The shop is currently no longer in operation as of August 2022 but the Instagram page is still active.

In this venture, I learned:
  • how to create a community on social media organically
  • how to create viral content (posts that reach 5k+ likes and shares, 1M+ impressions)
  • how to properly set up a Shopify store
  • work with vendors to bring products to life (designers, apparel manufacturers, print shops)
  • how to set up shipping by using cross-border services (like Stallion Express) to handle shipping and fulfillment for local and international orders
  • how to better run Facebook ad campaigns
  • how to do influencer seeding by working with professional athletes
  • how to run email marketing campaigns with Klaviyo
  • setting up ad pixels and analytics tracking (FB, Snap, TikTok, Google Analytics)
